Date: 2 Octubre 2011. The most bizarre weekend. Not sure where I've been for the past few days...
Saturday: Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias
Really not what I was expecting to see in Valencia (meaning I clearly had not read anything about Valencia before we left, because it's a pretty important part of the city). The museum/center is beautiful, and it's contents -- an array of childish exhibits -- fail to do it justice. Our tour guide told us all about global warming and gravity, but she failed to remark as to the history (and, more importantly, the futre) of the structure itself. It's so huge, such a feat of architecture, that it won't be sustainable -- especially given the current economic climate. It's tragic, really, or at least there's a tragic irony to it -- a museum whose content reflects upon sustainability and science and whose decline, due to its own lack of sustainability, is inevitable.
Sunday: More what I pictured Valencia to be like, but still just a random fishing village in the countryside. WHERE AM I???
Great paella, though.
