Sitges

A month or so since I've last posted. I wish blogs weren't time-stamped -- just pretend this one is from September 5, 2011. I'm going to work from memory until I catch up to the present, and then go from here. I guess it's a good thing that I've been too busy to update, but I wish I had written everything down as it happened. Luckily, our adventures made enough of an impression that I think I remember them, near perfectly, as they happened.

Sitges is a beach town about 45 minutes from Barcelona, a short ride on a commuter train. We chose Sunday to make the day trip, after a day on the Barcelona beach (below) on Saturday.

... we were just hoping for something a little more picturesque. We arrived around 14 h -- finally acclimated to military time -- and the slightly overcast sky somehow made our destination even more beautiful.

Turns out Sitges is one of the top gay destinations in Europe, which I found post-facto. It certainly clarified the seemingly endless especially-nude all-male strip of beach. The waters were clearer than Barcelona, and we swam out to the buoys to get a better view of that castle (?) that casually marks the Sitges skyline. We found a great cafe for a dinner that was much more of a lunch on Spanish time, and headed back to a Barcelona that had almost, but not quite, begun to feel like home.
